Welcome to the Clydesdale Cross Sport Horse Association – a group dedicated to celebrating the versatility of horses with part Clydesdale heritage.
On the 10th December 2004 the inaugural meeting of the first society dedicated solely to the Clydesdale Cross took place. A committee was formed and on the 14th December 2004 the Clydesdale Cross Sport Horse Association was officially incorporated under Victorian legislation.
Since that time, the CCSHA has gone from strength to strength and boasts a healthy membership base and a register of over a 1000 Clydesdale Crosses. As a true testament to the nature of these horses, our members span across every equine discipline and our horses range from hairy, large rumped beasts (not dissimilar to their Clydesdale predecessors) to refined, athletic and bold athletes, competing at the highest levels.
We aim to provide a supportive and relaxed Association, where Clydie Cross owners can get out and have fun with their horses. We don’t aim to be a competitive group, where winning ribbons is our primary objective – instead we aim to provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy what they love, regardless of their level of expertise or how ‘fancy’ their horse is.
Statement of Purpose
- To promote the use of the Clydie Cross as a Sport and Pleasure horse in Australia
- To create and keep a database of all registered Clydie Cross sport and pleasure horses. The database will include colour, conformation and pedigrees, if available.
- To provide trophies, prizes and recognition to registered Clydie Cross sport and pleasure horses at events and shows chosen by the association committee for support.
- To provide an opportunity for all Clydie Cross sport and pleasure horse owners to register all horses which are believed to contain Clydesdale in their bloodlines.
- To establish and maintain a register of Clydesdale Cross Sport Horse breeders in Australia.
Code of Ethics
Whether you own one horse or an entire stud, the CCSHA encourages all members to practice responsible pet ownership and ensure the welfare of their horse(s) is their primary concern. The Code of Ethics provides guidelines regarding the general care, breeding and selling of horses and can be downloaded by clicking the following link
The CCSHA contains members at all levels of experience, from very diverse backgrounds, with extensive areas of expertise. Some horses in our registries may be commencing their training as foals, while others may be competing at extremely high levels. With this in mind, CCSHA events are designed to be fully inclusive and provide equal opportunities for all competitors. Our aim is to make everyone feel comfortable and supported, while show-casing the versatility of the Clydesdale Cross Sport Horse.
The Code of Conduct for Events and Competitions provides guidelines regarding the behaviour of members/participants/representatives at CCSHA events and competitions. Please click the link to download a copy of the Code of conduct.
Complaints Handling Policy
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, there are times when members may need to report issues and make formal complaints. The CCSHA encourages all members to provide feedback and views complaints as an opportunity to learn and improve our services.
As part of our commitment to being consistent, fair and impartial when handling your complaint, we have recently developed a Complaints Handling Policy. This provides guidance to both our members and Committee regarding the ways in which the CCSHA receives and manages your complaint and can be downloaded by clicking the following link.

In order to reduce cases of possible slander or harm, upon joining the CCSHA, all members and representatives will be bound by our Social Media Policy.
